Please Pray!

On the last day of our vacation I called one of my best friends in Canada, Sarah Klein, to see how she was doing. The answer I got was not what I was expecting. Just to give you a little background on her, she has had a lot of health problems in her lifetime. She had celiacs disease, a skin disease, a liver disease, and on more than one occation, she almost died. She found some relief in alternative medicine in Mexico, but even after they had her stabalized, she still needed many ongoing medications to keep her functioning in a semi-normal state. She was always very tired and had a hard time working a regular job due to exhaustion.

She always had a heart for people, and when she committed her life to the Lord, her love for people and love for the Lord fused, compelling her to reach out and share the love of Christ with hurting people. She was such an encouragement to me (and continues to be) and she always challenged me to be a better person, to trust God, to put my faith in action, to reach out. She is one of those people who left a lasting imprint on my life. About 2 years ago, God called her to Mexico to work with a missionary family there, short term with the possibility of longer term. She ended up being there almost a year and a half. In that time she attended a meeting where the speaker prayed over her, and God chose to heal her that night. She flushed all her meds down the toilet because she believed that God was asking her to excercise faith. She didn't feel wonderful instantly, but slowly she began to feel more energized.

In June, her family arranged for her to come home for a visit. After a couple of weeks at home, her family realized that she was turning yellow and she wasn't feeling great. They took her to the hospital where they told her that she had acquired a bacterial infection in Mexico which had begun to attack her liver.

When I talked to Sarah, she was at the University of Alberta Hospital in pretty serious condition. Doctors were telling her that she needed a liver transplant. She wanted to pursue alternative medicine in Mexico once again, however she was in no condition to travel and the doctors wouldn't allow it.

As of Tuesday, she was still in the hospital, however getting a little better. She said she was hoping to be discharged soon, maybe even this week. When she is discharged, she can then travel to Mexico if she wishes. Please pray for Sarah! God has healed her once and I know He can do it again if He so chooses.
