Camping
Last year I surprised Matt for his birthday and took him to Ricketts Glenn State Park. I chose it because there are many beautiful waterfalls there, however last year the trail was closed due to flooding. So I thought we would try again this year. I made the reservation months ago so we would be able to get the site we wanted. Because we were at the end of the campground and right by the lake, we were able to enjoy the sounds as well as the presence of birds, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, mice, etc. It was very peaceful and we were able to enjoy some much needed R & R.
We spent a lot of time cooking, and at night we enjoyed sitting around our campfire, roasting marshmallows and eating smores. I discovered Matt's rare talent: roasting marshmallows . . . not just anybody can get them just right. His were always done to perfection! And he was even kind enough to share with me! I think Matt's favorite meal was the breakfast skillet. We eat better when we camp than when we are home!
On our second day there, we struck out to see these falls that everyone was talking about. As we got to the trail head, there were signs posted to warn hikers of the dangers . . . they even had pictures of people who had been hurt and had to be air lifted out. But, as we expected, it wasn't nearly as hard as they had made us to believe. It was definitely a hike, but very doable. Below is a sampling of the falls we saw . . . out of 20+ waterfalls.

I love sharing in your life! and Yes, we would like to camp with you, and I can attempt the easy (if there is one) trail to the waterfalls. What's in your breakfast skillet? LY
Our breakfast skillet consisted of potatoes, diced ham, and scrambled egg . . . it was supposed to have cheese in it, but I forgot. It still tasted great!
That sounds like so much fun - you guys always get such cool pictures of you together!
